THE WHY
Hi everyone.
This is Thomas Neblett speaking on behalf of my sick daughter and my whole close nit family. Last year my 16 year old daughter was hospitalized due to extreme weight loss. It happened slow enough to the point that upon her doctor's visit she was 65 lbs without us really noticing. That probably sounds horrible as parents to not notice sooner however, as most of us due to daily hussle of life things right in front of us can easily get overlooked. Diagnosed with crohn's disease it was impairitive they get her weight up before discharge. Threw a feeding tube and finally a restrictive diet she was able to gain the weight and start her medication to hopefully slow or even jump start remission. Upon the next few months things were going good for Caitlin.
The stomach pain and weight seemed to be tracking in the right direction and a follow visit to her M.D. with talk of possible remission was said. (praise the lord).
This was very short lived though. The constent Urinary tract infections was the first indicator coupled with the upper intestinal pain returning gave us pause as we did not want the weight issue to be next.
After testing was done on Caitlin they determined it was not any better in fact, it was worse. Caitlin had built an antibody to the extremely expensive medication and wasn't getting better but was getting worse. The disease had spread to her bladder making it extremely painful going to bathroom. (Now #1 and #2) were both giving her trouble. We prayed for Jesus to give us an answer for Caitlin and to help with the pain, healing and just all out guidance through this horrible time.
More testing was now being done for the surgeon to have a look, because medically we were told that this was the only thing left. My wife of 30 years and my whole family were really being tested at this point. I did not believe doing surgery on a teenager would even be a consideration.
This may not even be possible anyway.
At the start of what I thought would be a good new year or at least couldn't get any worse, all this was real and happening.
Living pay check to pay check already,
it is looking like Caitlin's needs could not be meet financially and now even a roof over her head is in jeopardy.
THE NEED AND STORY
To those who know me and those who don't.
I have given most of my adult life to the art and profession of Land Surveying. It is a great job and I only wanted to excell as much as I could. (Even thoughts of becoming licensed.) Unfortunately I took a job two years ago (huge mistake) at a business were someone I know was working and was starting a Richmond office for an out of state company. This was supposed to be a great opportunity and monetarily good as well. Hoping the extra income would allow me to save for Caitlin's care while I could pursue licensing as well. I passed my first exam and little did I know things I learned while studying would soon make me realize things I was being taught were unethical and wasn't completing any work I could be proud of. Now being laidoff bills have backed up tremendously. This has to be the toughest thing I have ever done. Asking for help is not easy but I assure you that anything helps and all donations will strikley be used for Caitlin's care. We are on the verge of losing everything.
God bless and most importantly prayers please.
Sincerely the Nebletts
