PLZ HELP w INJURED ELDER’S HOME RENOVATION

With 8 billion people in this world it is hard to believe that we let so many slip through the cracks unnoticed… I did that, I let my childhood friend waste away in his own filth, unnoticed, until it was almost too late. Hi, my name is Jackie and I am finally doing a go fund me page because I realize I am in over my head and overwhelmed… Backstory;

A friend I stopped visiting on a regular basis, years even, fell down right before Christmas and shattered his shoulder. While driving him to his surgery appointment I promised I would feed his dog in the morning… When I got to his house and opened the door, I realized I should’ve checked on him sooner.

Deplorable. Dark. Grimy. Stench. Eye watering, ammonia… And in the middle of ankle high junk mail strewn from wall-to-wall was his doggie slowly wagging its tail.

That first day I asked some friends if they knew how to get 10 year old grease off of walls. The next thing I knew, they came over and started helping. Five days later and I finally realized we are in way over our heads…

There is no furnace, it is gone -and it is winter! He told me his hot water tank broke last May as well. We have spent all month throwing out garbage and junk and finally tore the carpet out of the living room today. over 15 dump runs, cleaning supplies, and flea & mite medicines and creams for his dog have tapped into much of my savings, and there is still so much more needed…

I am only asking for $11,000 (*edit; I raised the goal) because that is about what it’s going to cost to cover some medical bills now coming in and to do it right, as we pay for everything including repairs. There are many repairs needed; drywall, more flooring issues, furnace, etc... plus taking doggie to vet and paying some of the medical bills coming in now. I live in an amazing town, Granite Falls, and have had soo many people reaching out gifting food, towels, clothes, curtains, throw rugs, furniture and such, but as we clean out the grime and clutter it becomes clear that floor and wall damage needs to be addressed as well… And we noticed the clothes washer has been leaking all over the floor for years. He needs a new washer & dryer as well…

I know what’s needed is way more than what I’m asking to fix this problem. I’m in waay over my head. So I must implore, please please help, even the smallest donations will go a long way.

Any leftover money will go to furnace and repairs and anything else I can afford to fix in his house… not only for his own health but so that he can have some type of consistent in-home after care so this cannot ever happen again…
