Hello, my name is Thomas, and I live in Nova Scotia with my family of four kids. Last summer, we took a big step and bought a home that we fell in love with. It was a dream come true for us—a place where we could build memories, put down roots, and create a safe, loving environment for our children.

This summer, we decided it was time to make some much-needed renovations to the house, both inside and out. We were excited to make it our own and create a comfortable space for the kids to grow up in. After searching for a renovation company, we found one that seemed trustworthy. They asked for a $4,000 deposit for supplies, and we paid it, thinking this was the first step toward transforming our new house into our dream home.

However, after two months of delays and excuses, it became clear that something was wrong. They kept pushing the job further and further back, and finally, they stopped responding altogether. I tried to get in touch, but both of their contact numbers were disconnected. They vanished without a trace, along with the $4,000 deposit we had saved up for these renovations.

As a father who works full-time to support my family, losing that money has been a devastating blow. The $4,000 may not seem like a lot to some, but for us, it was a significant amount—our savings meant to make our home safe and comfortable. Now, we’re left with a house that needs repairs and no funds to make it happen.
