Needed Help For Wheelchair Van
Donation protected
Hello everyone. My name is Eugene (Gene). I’m a Spinal Cord Injury (SCI) survivor of the past 15 years and I’m also a happy, hardworking, fun and a people loving Midwest guy. I recently have gone through a traumatic ordeal and I’m reaching out for help.
A few days ago, my mother and I were in a scary car accident. It involved two other vehicles but thankfully no one was harmed including my mother and myself. My only source of transportation was my van. It was the vehicle that got me to my job, doctor’s appointments and much more. My van was completely totaled. I’m now left without any source of transportation. I’ve recently found out that the only way for me to get a replacement is for a down payment. I won’t be able to gain that money because I’m out of work till I get another vehicle. This is also affecting other parts of my livelihood and so I’m reaching out to you all.
I need help. I’m asking for any sort of donation so I can come up with the funds towards a down payment for a wheelchair accessible vehicle that way I’m able to get back to work and fine my way back to normalization.
Any donation helps towards my ordeal and if you could share this with any of your loved ones that would be so helpful. If you’re not able to donate please share anyways and please send your positive vibes and warm regards my way. I’m very grateful at the fact that there’s a platform that can help and I’m even more grateful that you’ve taken the time to even read my story. I thank each and every one of you.
UPDATE…
Firstly let me start by saying that the endless amount of generosity and kindness that you all have poured to me and my mother has been absolutely awe inspiring. I’ve received messages and warm wishes in person and all online. The way that co-workers, my community and those even outside of those perimeters have donated shows that humanity is real. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and throughout my wheelchair. .
I haven’t been able to be out and about in my city since all of this has happened and that not the main importance. My job is the main thing that I want to retain. I’ve been driving my wheelchair to and from my job because I have to keep my job to stay afloat. The grind must continue. Getting my van back is going to be crucial because my wheelchair may breakdown if I continue to do this commuting. I’ve been managing my time and that’s all I can do at the moment.
When it comes to the van and its repairs, I have found a mechanic here in my city who’s been in the business for over 40 years. He has consulted with me. He said that would be able to do things necessary to work on the van but within his findings, he noticed a huge problem. The suspension and cradle of the car has prevented the ramp and van from moving. This is also hindering it from being operable. He laid the breakdown of things out and it turns out that I need even more work done in order to make things operable. The funds that were raised four months ago have been allocated towards the framing of the vehicle but the suspension work has to be done before anything else. This hinders me from even being able to get into the van let alone move it properly.
It also means that additional funds are needed. I ask of the many of people who might come across my page again if they’re willing to help my mother and I with these finances. My main goal is to get the van back on its tires so I can get back to my normal schedule at work. Since everything has happened I’ve had no choice but to reduce my schedule to one day a week.
The first thing I must say is that I’ll be 1000% percent grateful for your consideration and even just was warm message of encouragement means the world to me. Spreading the word helps me so much. As always, I thank you all and be safe but most importantly be kind to one another. ❤️
