Neil Whitelaw's Last Year

my dad, Neil Whitelaw, has recently been diagnosed with terminal kidney cancer. The doctors gave him a one year life expectancy at this stage. If you have been in touch with us at all in the last few years, I'm sure you know how many times life has kicked us in the face and truth be told, it would almost be funny if it wasn't so sad. 

Dad hasn't been able to work since 2019 after stepping on a screw at work and developing a major infection that cost him multiple toes and the ability to walk or even stand for too long. Now I know what you're thinking, "Julie, there's insurance that will help you if you get hurt at work" right?! Wrong. Much like with a car accident, insurance companies do not like to pay and will try and find any reason to get out of it. Apparently, because my dad is diabetic that means he had an underlying condition that is not work related and therefore they do not have to pay a dime. 

It hasn't been easy but he's managed to get by the last few years but since they told him he was sick and all the doctors appointments and everything that comes with terminal kidney cancer, he's unable to scrape by the way he was before. If I could pay all his bills myself, I would in a heartbeat but of course things aren't that easy. 

It breaks my heart to hear after the fact that my dad, who's worked his guts out his whole life taking care of me and my siblings, was down to his last can of beans before the next time the food bank was open.

All I'm asking for is for some help for a really great guy (as much of a prick as he can be) so that he can spend the last year of his life not having to stress or panic about paying his rent or being able to eat. He's had such an impact on so many lives and has had so many things taken right out of his hands that he rightfully deserved, please help me help him finally catch a break. He's definitely my hero, I know he has to be something to some of you out there too.
