Nelda Piña y sus Tambores - New Album
This campaign is to fund the production of the first album by the "bullerengue" singer Nelda Piña. At 75 years old, she represents the living legacy of the traditional music of "bailes cantaos" (sung dances) and drums of the Colombian Caribbean.
"Eco de mis Ancestros" (echo of my ancestors) is the name of this new production, that contains 6 original songs by the maestra Nelda Piña, accompanied by 5 outstanding musicians from Palenque, Rincón del Mar and Bogotá. With the rhythms of bullerengue, fandango, chalupa, porro and son de negro, this album is a tribute to slave ancestors brought from Africa who freed themselves. Nowadays, the fighting continue in defense of their culture, territory and rights.
The fund raised will be used to pay for the production costs of the new album: recording, mixing, mastering, pressing, design, art, video, photography, management and legal expenses, as well as its launch and positioning in the digital media.
So far, the team behind the project is a multidisciplinary group of professionals connected by the love of deep roots music. We aim at promoting the great work of masters like Nelda Piña to be a precedent for music in Colombia and the world.
The worldwide release of the album is planned for September 2021. It will be available on all digital platforms.
This is a self-financed independent music project that needs your support to be completed.
