To everyone who may or may not have heard the heartbreaking news about our daughter Nelly’s passing on Monday, November 5th. This has been a whirlwind of emotions that is simply indescribable. We were hopeful that she would recover from the depression that had been plaguing her for the past several months. Despite all efforts, she took her own life. She was only eleven years old.
Nelly Elizabeth Pelaez was highly gifted, artistic and fun. She loved animals and dancing on the dance/drill team at Sutter Middle School. Among so many other talents, her magnificent artwork was that of a true artist.
We can’t believe that a child her age could comprehend the permanence of this decision or how profoundly it could affect so many. So much love and support has already been sent her way by so many who love her.
Memorial plans are still being arranged, and any updates regarding locations and times will be posted as they become available. We have already had a massive outpouring of supportive posts, emails, texts, and messages from people asking how to help. As a family, we are reaching out to the community and would like to graciously accept donations, in lieu of flowers, that will be used for costs pertaining to Nelly’s memorial as well as for community resources to maximize suicide intervention and prevention for young people. There are no words that will ever express how grateful we are to have the support and help that we will need to get through this! God Bless you all!
