Neo's Hip Toggle Surgery

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Nancy, and I am fundraising to cover the very unexpected and expensive emergency surgery costs for my pet Neo. A gentle and sweet Siberian husky that is well behaved and well trained.

On Wednesday last week, Neo got into a car accident that has caused lots of pain and damage to his leg. While he was in the backyard using the bathroom, Neo had heard a deafening noise and was startled, so he jumped the backyard fence and was unfortunately hit by a car. I heard the crash and cried from inside. I came out to see Neo on the side of the road with serious injuries. The driver that hit him was nowhere to be found. I immediately rushed him to the vet, where he got his first surgery.

He got multiple open wounds on the right legs and dislocated the right leg from his hip (the femoral head of the femur bone was dislocated from the pelvis). The veterinarian tried to move the hip joint back to its proper location without surgery. However, I had to take him back to the vet two days later because Neo lost movement and could not get up and use the bathroom (his legs popped back out again). The vet tried to put his leg back again, but the leg didn't fit properly. Our vet sent us to an orthopedic surgeon because he needed emergency surgery.

The surgeon suggested me do the Hip Toggle procedure, an open reduction technique, since the closure reduction from the previous surgery failed. The surgery will remove all the blood clots, and soft tissues entrapped within the hip socket and apply a pin and toggle. With luck, he will be able to recover from the surgery fully. Unfortunately, this type of surgery is a significant expense that needs your help.

Neo will be at the emergency vet’s until at least Friday evening, as they will need to monitor his heart rate. The first visit with our vet was $1,300, but the emergency orthopedic surgeon and follow-up care will cost around $6,000-$7,000, not including his X-ray, bloodwork and other fees.

Any extra donations will be donated to AKC Canine Health Foundation to help dogs survive cancer, which is one of the leading causes of death in dogs. They focus on research and education grants with canine health projects to save countless lives.

If you are unable to donate, please take the time to post this on your story and show your friends and family. Anything, and I mean any amount of donation, is deeply appreciated. We will be posting videos/pictures with updates regarding Neo.

I want to thank you all again for the time and kind support for my Baby Neo.
