UK QTIBIPOC Emergency relief & Hardship Fund

This emergency relief and hardship fund has been set up to provide short term support to Queer, Trans and Intersex, Black, Indigenous, People of Color (QTIBIPOC) currently living in the UK who are affected by the outbreak and ongoing shutdown caused by Covid-19. It has been set up to support those who are immunocompromised, chronically ill, asthmatic, in quarantine or elderly as well as those in precarious and threatening financial situations due to the official lockdown imposed in the UK on March 23rd, 2020.

Why have we extended our target?

At the time of pausing our applications, we have supported over 100 individuals, but have over 250 on top of that. Whilst we may not be able to support each applicant, we strive to support as many as possible.

All funds raised in this moment will go into £200 payments we are offering.

£10000 of the money raised has been put towards a Co-op Fund which will provide longer term ongoing support in times of need to members of our community across the UK.

Approximate set up costs:

Registering as a Co operative £250+VAT
Accounting £500 per year
Website hosting £100
Bank and Paypal fees £150
Administrative support including Loomio subscription £1500

This would enable us to put £7500 into the pot so that members can begin receiving support immediately.

Donations will be administered by Black Obsidian Sound System  and managed with support of Decolonise Fest London - members of which will meet weekly to look over applications and distribute funds.

“For many in our communities, COVID-19 is only making worse what it already means to live as queer people of colour in Britain.”

“COVID-19, and the attendant lockdowns and policies, will disproportionately impact Black women, our elders, immigrants, refugees and people of colour in ways we all know too well already.

            -- UK Black Pride

We add to these sentiments in that immunocompromised, chronically ill and differently-abled  members of our community are further at risk.

Thanks to Karada House and Queercare UK for inspiring us into action.
