My Husband Nestor Martinez was such a loving and caring person. He devoted his life to God and his family. Everyone he came in contact with would always boast about how great of a person he was and in his time here on earth he touched many lives!
In August of 2019, Doctors discovered that he had cirrhosis of the liver because he was starting to accumulate fluid in his abdomen. One day, he went to get the fluid removed but almost lost his life because the hospital gave him too much morphine and was unaware that his kidneys weren’t processing it. He then became unresponsive, and the doctors began to put him on dialysis to clean the morphine out of his system. The morphine took a huge toll on his kidneys which then meant that he had to continue regular dialysis.
Even then, he was hopeful that things could turn around, so we went to a hospital that performed transplants, everything was looking good until they found cancer in his liver which then meant he was no longer a candidate for any transplants. We went out of state and got a second opinion in North Carolina but unfortunately, they said the same thing.
The ascites kept getting worse and worse and his blood pressure which was already low began to get lower and then he ended up in the hospital. He prayed diligently and remained positive, hoping for a miracle and believed wholeheartedly that God would give it to him. He fought a hard battle up until he took his last breathe on Wednesday, February 26th at 4:10pm.
My husband really wanted to live so badly, he wanted to go back to Miami to tell his testimony and get back to his music ministry which he loved very much. Before his passing he made sure to let me know that if he should pass, he would want to be cremated and put into a guitar and taken out to the ocean, because he said he would be free.
