Netherfield Forum Warm Hub & Hot Food
Community Centre
WARM HUB
We are a designated Warm Hub and would use some of the money raised to ensure that we have a warm space for all our local community to use and to help keep all our groups running.
Our community centre is the heart of Netherfield and is used by the local community for a variety of groups which include activities for young families, adults and the elderly.
HOT FOOD
We would also use to keep subsidising our hot meals (meat and vegetarian option) that are freshly prepared Monday to Friday for either Eat in £2 or Takeaway £1, this has been beneficial in helping local families and the elderly who are on a low budget, ensuring they are eating a home-cooked hot meal.
During Covid-19, we were able to provide free hot meals due to receiving funding and donations of food from local Businesses. After lockdown we kept our meals at a reduced price to keep helping and feeding our community. We have continued to provide this service and would love to carry on but with prices increasing we are finding it harder to keep providing.
Netherfield Forum Story
In 1996 a group of local residents decided to take action to galvanise support for a sustained regeneration initiative to bring life back to the town. The Netherfield Forum was formed. In January 1998 the Forum held a conference to agree a collective vision for the regeneration of Netherfield and to secure the commitment from local people, statutory bodies and local groups to deliver it.
With Lottery funding amongst other major funders and with the successful partnership working of public, private, voluntary and statutory agencies spearheaded by resident involvement at its heart, the St Georges Centre was built.
The Netherfield Forum is a charitable organisation originally formed by residents of Netherfield in 1987. The Forum owns and manages the St Georges Centre – a self-funded information hub at the heart of the community, along with the Loco Centre which provides youth provision and services, activities and training courses and opportunities to Netherfield and the wider community.
In 2014 the Netherfield Forum were recognised for their achievements and received the Queen’s Award for Voluntary Services (MBE).
