About Me:
I am currently a junior dually enrolled in college and in high school. I enjoy art, music, swimming, nature walks, and other outdoor activities. I also like spending time with my two dogs, Henry and Dexter. They inspired me to start The Happy Pup Bakery. I routinely volunteer with the Meals on Wheels program delivering meals to elderly or disabled people in our community.
Future Plans:
I want to become a doctor. I want my life to be full of purpose and meaningful work. I have not decided on a specific career or specialty in medicine ( leaning towards neurology).
What I'm Fundraising For:
Neuroscience Summer Immersion program at the prestigious Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, Noth Carolina.
Why This Is Important To Me:
My life has intersected with many people that have neurological needs. My first experience, my mother had several intense back surgeries and ended up with a spinal fusion surgery. She experienced paralysis and nerve damage in her extremities. I have grandparents that deal with dementia and Alzheimer's disease. Last summer, my uncle was diagnosed with a very rare brain disease called Creutzfeldts-Jakobs disease. I was very intrigued as I listened to the neurologist and his care team try to solve this mysterious neurological disease that would quickly take his life. The world of Neuroscience has collided with my life. I desire to have a better knowledge of neurology and learn how I might could help, not just those in my life, but in the world around us.
How I Will Use The Funds:
I received a scholarship for a portion of the tuition. All funds raised will pay for the tuition. Any funds over the tuition amount will be used for travel expenses to Winston-Salem North Carolina.
