A few months ago Nevarez Boxing was asked to close our doors due to the Coronavirus. What we thought was going to be a two week closure has now turned into almost 3 months and counting.
On March 16th we did our part and closed our doors to "flatten the curve" and help stop the spread of Covid-19. We feel and have always felt the obligation and duty to put our member's and athlete's health first.
On May 12th we were asked by our property managers (who own the main gym Nevarez Boxing runs out of) if they can use our space for their members, as they have been open despite the health order put in place. Not feeling comfortable with the idea, we decided to continue to follow the health order and put our community's health first. So we respectfully declined.
The next day we received a "30 Day Notice to Terminate Month to Month Rental"
We have been tenants at this property for 5 years. January we remodled and expanded our gym with an agreement for another 5 year lease but never received the lease paperwork.
Our hearts are broken and it's very unfortunate that after feeling the financial hardship of this pandemic for the last few months we are now having to leave our home of 5 years.
We are asking for our community's help by donating towards a new home and equiptment for Nevarez Boxing. This donation will help go towards rent for the first few months. If we can raise more, we'll be able to purchase trendmills, stair master, and other equipment we will no longer have access to. We do believe gyms are essential! When we get the green light to reopen, we hope Nevarez Boxing will be able to have a new home for our members and community to come to!
