Voice Back To School Drive

Being born and raised in the inner city of New York, specifically Brooklyn, I understand the hardships that come with being born into an environment that does not reaffirm your vision. At times, we’ve had to fight the temptation of taking the alternative route. So, I want to find ways to not only build back a village that understands the importance of nurturing children. My call-to-action for those who have “made it out”, is to come back and invest in the kids that are in the shoes they once were in.

In the collegiate space, the cohort of individuals who make it out are considered Alumni and I believe just like college, every neighborhood has an alumni association. With being an Alumni, comes the responsibility of building a blueprint and manual for those coming after you.

Giving back and assisting in constructing this blueprint varies depending on your stage in life. Therefore, I am asking for you to give back in whatever manner is convenient for you. It may be monetary donations, your time, mentorship, food, old clothes, supplies, or simply just your presence because you never know what blessing you can receive from just being there.

The goal is to raise $5,000. With this fund, we will buy school supplies, textbooks, food, and other necessities that will be provided to children on that day.

I want to show children the power of a network and how we exist outside of the narratives portrayed through the media. Each volunteer or donor who contributes more than $50 will receive a symbolic shirt.
