For many before the global pandemic, they will not have thought much about domestic abuse, if at all. Did you? If it is not directly effecting you then why would you, right? Well, consider this...

New Beginnings believes domestic abuse is everyone's business. The UN described domestic abuse as the 'hidden pandemic' it is a global issue, that affects those on your doorstep (maybe you already know the reality), as well as those on the other side of the world from you, it's a whole community issue. Domestic abuse does not discriminate, it does care about a person's age, gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, ability nor disability. In the UK, almost 1 in 3 women, 1 in 6 men and 1 in 7 children will be subjected to domestic abuse and local crisis service IDAS and Women's Aid both believe we are about to see more victims gather the courage to leave an abusive relationship now that the Covid-19 restrictions are lifting. An act that should not be underestimated as this is statistically the most dangerous time for victims with 3 women a fortnight being killed by a current or former partner in the UK.

Victims who leave will likely seek the support of a crisis service that will guide them through resettlement if they have fled or securing their existing home, mental health support and/or criminal/family court proceedings but what happens when you are no longer in crisis? What then?

New Beginnings is a specialist domestic abuse after-crisis service for women and their families that have previously been subjected to domestic abuse, whether recently or historically. We provide vital individually tailored long term practical & emotional support to enable women to gain the strength to parent their equally traumatised children, to financially support themselves (95% of survivors have been subjected to economic abuse), to find their purpose and to re-educate/re-skill themselves in alignment with their purpose, ensuring they are given every opportunity to experience post-traumatic growth.

Your donations will be used to;
- provide a positive social network for clients to stay connected,
- offer vital food parcels,
-  improve mental well-being by providing self-care packages,
- to facilitate bi-weekly group sessions.
- complete prevention work in schools/colleges and corporate facilities
- raise awareness through community outreach

Anything you can donate will be really appreciated and if you can donate time or something other than finance please email [email redacted]
