New Beginnings For My Boys

My name is Done’ll, and I’m starting this in hope of giving my son and grandson a new life.
A year ago last April my son lost is best friend Devon. Devon was murdered, shot in the back twice by someone they both used to be friends with. The day Kody(my son) called me to give me the news; he was so devastated; I’ve never seen my baby so distraught. Him and Devon were just trying to start up their own business; a clothing line; and they would’ve done great. They were both very attractive, charismatic and charming young men. But I knew that day he called, that his world was about to fall apart. See, my son was in recovery, a year and a half clean from heroin, which he did on his own while raising his son alone. Devon was his strength and I knew losing him that Kody was at high risk of relapsing, which he did. I never imagined it would be as bad as it was….
My son not only relapsed but took it to another level and began using fentanyl. During his addiction he overdosed more than 15 times, so severely that he suffered 3 traumatic brain injuries and is now left with a permanent seizure disorder that he will have to take medication for the rest of his life. As a result, he ended up getting in trouble with the law and was faced with the strong possibility of losing his son and going to prison. , by the grace of god he was blessed with a judge that offered him a chance to save his life and his son and ordered him to go to rehab.
I am happy to say he has completed 60 days in rehab and resides at a halfway house where they have helped him get a job and will help him in transitioning into a place of his own where he can finally be reunited with my grandson. Levi ( my grandson) has been staying with my folks( his great grandparents) who are in their 60’s and 70’s. Because I live in Texas which is 1900 miles away from them, he didn’t want his baby boy to be so far away, which I’d understandable. Levi is Kodys whole world and he is a great dad when he’s clean and sober, and Kody is Levis hero, they love each other so much.
However tending to a very rambunctious 4 yr old has been taking a toll on my parent’s, bless their heart’s. The struggled to make ends meet before this all happened, so you can imagine what they are dealing with now with an extra mouth to feed and clothe. Not to mention the mental strain and stress and raising a toddler at their age.
So what I’m asking for is donations to help them out a little during this time, but mostly for my boys. Because they will need to make a fresh start in a new environment and my son has lost everything due to the circumstances of this past year. He has a job now, but he will need to get his drivers license reinstated and a car as well as furnishing a home for him and his son, because right now he literally has nothing but his weekly paycheck which at minimum wage isn’t much, especially when raising a child as a single father. So whatever money is raised will go to obtaining those things for them, helping out my parents financially while they take care of my grandson, and if enough money is raised, hopefully maybe getting the business that Kody and Devon were starting launched.
I’ am not a deeply religious person, but I do believe in god and the power of prayer, so if you are unable to donate then I ask you to just say a little prayer for my family and pray they all make it thru this, which is undoubtedly the hardest thing my family has had to endure.
I also ask this; if you or a loved one struggles with addiction; please beg them to get help, they are not alone. So please raise awareness regarding Fentanyl or any drug for that matter because they are putting fentanyl in everything and right now it is the number one killer in world. It has literally taken more lives than cancer, heart disease, car crashes and even Covid combined. So please please please inform your loved ones.
