New Bern Suicide Prevention Bear

Hi, my name is Pat Drake and I'm fundraising for the creation of a Suicide Prevention Bear which will be located at Country Biscuit on Broad Street in New Bern, North Carolina.

My close friend Kathy Stolar's son Josh Stolar committed suicide in 2014 and I'm spearheading this project on her behalf, as well as for anyone who has experienced the pain of losing a loved one to suicide. It's Kathy's and my belief that the creation of this bear will bring attention to this issue which is now considered an epidemic.

New Bern has many of these fiberglass bears painted with assorted artwork on display around town. The artwork on our bear will focus on Suicide Prevention, especially highlighting the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline number - 988.

There are steps involved in this bear being created and this fundraising effort is a crucial step in beginning this process.
