New Building for New Harmony Baptist Church, AL

It was announced on March 27th at morning service that Sunday, April 3, 2022 would be the last service we would be having in New Harmony Baptist Church. WOW! We still haven’t wrapped our hearts around this. We have closed the doors to our little church building. It is temporary, however, as we are going to be tearing down the existing building instead of trying to fix the roof and walls that sustained damage from the Tornado that tore apart Reece City, AL in April 2020. Because the building is so old, the tornado damage made repairs impossible. Now, money is an issue. We only received 1/4 of what we will need from the insurance company. We want to let everyone in the community and surrounding areas know what our plans are and ask for help. This is something that absolutely needs to happen because our building is no longer safe to be in. This process makes many of us think about the sanctuary of our little church. There are so many memories in it and of all the people that have attended there. We remember the countless Bible schools we’ve attended as children and later as adults helping the teachers try to mold little minds and bring the Joy of Jesus in their lives. We remember marriages that took place in there and all who have said “I Do” in front of God and witnesses. We also remember the sadness that we have felt while saying goodbye to loved ones in our little church. But, the BEST MEMORY made in this statuary is the Day many of us got SAVED and Accepted Jesus into our hearts!!!! Most of our entire Christian lives have centered around this church and all the people that have been there. We say all this to say, “We love New Harmony and are so Blessed to be a part of it. We are going to build back better and are looking forward to making new memories.” We will be having our church services in the fellowship hall while the main church is being completed. This could take almost a year. We invite you all to help pray for us and support us in this endeavor because God’s house belongs to everyone!!!! Thank you to all who give donations and prayers.
