New Bus for Sphoorti Foundation Model School
Tax deductible
In commemoration of the too-brief life of Jayanth "JJ" Charya, the JJ Metta Memorial Foundation/ANEW has honored JJ's memory through programs that give orphaned, abandoned, and underprivileged children in India access to a promising future through activities that Advance Nutrition, Education, and Wellbeing (ANEW).
Some of our education efforts involved launching afterschool learning programs for children in underserved urban communities in Andhra Pradesh. Earlier this year, children began enjoying a new playground and exercise area that we provided at the Sphoorti Children’s' Home near Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India. We seek to continue our support of the Sphoorti Children's Home and its Model School.
The Sphoorti Model School was established in 2021 to provide free education to impoverished children from surrounding communities such as the Gowdavally village, which is located more than 4 km away and lacks public transportation. Additionally, the schoolchildren (ages 6 to 12 years) lack funds for autorickshaw charges and would have to resort to navigating treacherous walks where incidents of snake bites and theft have been reported.
Our latest project is to fulfill the Sphoorti Foundation Model School's request of a new 40-50 seater school bus. The School's existing bus is second-hand, more than 15 years old, and requires extensive repairs. A new bus will not only serve to transport children to the School but also to various cultural and sports programs and inter-school competitions and excursions.
Please consider supporting the JJ Metta Memorial Foundation/ANEW's efforts to promote educational efforts in impoverished communities through fulfilling requests such as that made by the Sphoorti Model School.
