New Chapter: Employability skills programme for DA survivors
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Genevieve and I am fundraising for a new group programme that I am piloting next year as part of my social business, Choices . It will be held at the community room in Parklife Community Cafe in Southampton, one morning a month for six months.
The programme is called New Chapter and it is for women survivors of domestic abuse who are unemployed or in precarious employment. It is designed to support the development of self-awareness, resilience, networking, and practical employability skills, empowering the women to take control of their career paths.
The funds will pay for room hire, refreshments, materials, expert speakers and facilitators. Eight women will be offered places on the programme.
Stable employment is key for recovery from domestic abuse. Being in stable work gives financial security, social support, and helps to rebuild confidence, self-esteem and assertiveness. Through Choices, I aim to help survivors benefit from the protective effects of work and move on to more positive futures, free from abuse, just as I have done.
