New Cuts Hair Salon Fundraiser

Donation protected
My parents, many of you may know them as Fen and Tony, have been cutting hair and serving the Mountain View and neighboring communities for over 31 years. They’ve built a loyal clientele and have gotten to know many generations of their customers and families. I even recall hearing of customers who have moved to Texas stop by for a haircut when they are back in town.

Growing up, I spent weekends at the hair salon sweeping up hair (getting rewarded in lollipops) and remember the sounds of echoing blow dryers. My favorite ones were the late night ones hopefully not followed by 7:59pm bells with someone asking if they were still open. They often said yes because they had 3 kids to support.

During these last four months, I’ve helped my mom write a number of letters to post on the storefront with updates and emails to the property management requesting some rent relief. Other hair salons in the area have received a waived rent or a percentage of rent reduced, but it unfortunately, hasn’t been the case for my parents. With the high rent prices in Mountain View, my parents were eager to get back to work.

When Santa Clara County permitted hair salons to go back to business on July 13th, my mom spent time installing plexiglass shields at the cash register, purchased sanitizing solutions and bulk disposable face masks (for customers who do not wear masks on their visit), detailed two cups for clean and used pens (and on and on) to ensure safe conditions so that would make customers feel comfortable.

The reopening was short lived, as within the following 48 hours, Santa Clara County ordered hair salons to close effective July 15th. This news was upsetting for all of the hard work and clients she had already booked for the entire week. This is a tough time for many business owners. My sisters and I will be providing support to our parents, but if you would also like to help the business stay afloat, please donate any amount you’re comfortable with. I’ve set the goal at $10,000 as relief for a few months rent. If we don’t achieve the monetary goal, it would continually become harder to save the business. Please share with those who may be interested in helping small businesses/hair salons survive this difficult time.

Thank you so much in advance❤️,
