Help Build a New Dining Hall for our Orphans
New Dining Hall and Modern Kitchen for the Orphans
Dear Friends of Saint Tabitha Orthodox Orphanage and School,
I want to take this opportunity to thank everyone who has been supporting our daily programs as well as our construction. We have been struggling to raise money for constructing our dinning hall and modern kitchen for a long period of time.
Thanks be to God, a couple from the United States has committed to donating $8000.00 if we can first raise $5000.00 on our own. This couple has already helped fund other construction projects at St. Tabitha. Please join them today in helping us complete this next stage of our development. God bless you!

About St. Tabitha
St. Tabitha Orthodox Orphanage and School was established by Father Agapios (Habbil Lipesa Omukuba) and his wife, Papadia Dorah, in Kibera, the largest slum in Nairobi, and the largest urban slum in Africa. Father and Papadia eventually moved the children to Malava, a city in Western Kenya north of Kisumu, to provide them with a safer place to live and learn, far from the nefarious activities of the slum.
The vision is simple. An educated Kenya is a better Kenya. St. Tabitha Orthodox Orphanage and School provides a safe environment for primary and secondary age school children to receive an education. Graduates are encouraged to 'pay it forward' as others had done for them.
Fr. Agapios also sponsors children at other schools by paying for tuition, uniforms, supplies and meals. He returns to Kibera regularly to rescue children from the slums. He also works to bring children to St. Tabitha from remote areas where living conditions are extremely harsh for children.
Fr. Agapios acquired property for a new home and school house, a church, and medical clinic, all of which will be open to the local community as well. The land will be used to grow food, support dairy cows, and cultivate sugar cane, a huge cash crop in the area.
The total monthly expenses are approximately, $3500.00. This includes salaries for 11 teachers, 2 security personnel, landscapers, cooks, boys and girls dormitory monitors, and administration staff. It also includes office supplies, meals, and school fees for children attending other schools. Textbooks and school supplies are an additional expense.
Our hope and prayer are that you will support St. Tabitha monthly so we can help Fr. Agapios and Papadia Dora continue this good work. You can also visit us on Facebook and on the Web .
St. Tabitha Orthodox Orphanage and School is an institution of the Orthodox Christian Diocese of Kisumu and Western Africa. The Orthodox Church in Kenya is a metropolis of the Patriarchate of Alexandria and all Africa.
