Dear Friends, Family, and Kind-hearted Supporters,
We come to you with heavy hearts and a plea for assistance during a challenging time. Throughout our lives, we have witnessed our beloved mother, Elizabeth Joy Cox, overcome many hardships, at times against the greatest of odds. Somehow, she has always found the unwavering courage, resilience, and optimism to overcome these personal ordeals, often saving the lives of others along her journey.
Liz has always been a beacon of strength and independence. From a young age, she forged her own path, starting her career as a model and actress working for the legendary fashion designer Halston. Later, she booked nationwide commercial roles jumping through the air for Toyota and ringing doorbells as the friendly neighborhood Avon lady. A lifelong learner, Liz owned two successful businesses before finishing her advanced education with a Masters degree. She now shares her knowledge with students world-wide teaching live, full-time.
Tragically, after being misdiagnosed nine months ago, testing results have now detected bladder cancer that has metastasized to her bones. As an artist, writer, and instructor, she has poured her heart and soul into her work, touching the lives of her students with her passion and dedication. She loves her students, and they love her. However, her illness has now forced her to step away from her classes as she strives to survive cancer.

After two weeks of hospitalization, she has now returned home and is on bed rest, unable to eat solid food. She is undergoing tests and surgeries in pursuit of the best treatment options either to heal her illness or to prolong her life. Liz commenced immunotherapy infusions this week, a cutting edge and recently FDA approved treatment protocol for her type of cancer. The protocol is promising but not without side effects which include anxiety and painful skin conditions. The current treatment under medicare with a 20% copay is approximately $12,000 monthly. Fortunately, we secured a special program for her that will take care of a portion of her medical expenses, but not her lost wages, her bills, or the skilled help that we need to properly care for her around the clock at home.
In this time of uncertainty, we turn to you, our extended community, for support on her healing journey. Your generosity can help alleviate the financial burden of her expenses and provide much-needed emotional comfort during this difficult time. Patients on this medical regimen have lived for years in research studies and Liz’s doctors believe this is a promising approach for her. Her strong constitution has been a constant throughout her life, inspiring everyone who knows her. Now, as she faces the toughest challenge yet with her cancer diagnosis, she needs our support more than ever.
With hopeful hearts, we ask for your contributions, prayers, and positive thoughts as we navigate this challenging chapter together. Let us envision the highest possible outcome for her recovery. Your love and uplifting sentiments mean the world to us, and we are forever grateful for your kindness and support.
With Heartfelt Gratitude,
