New Forest Fundraising War Walk with R4H
NEW FOREST FUNDRAISING WAR WALK WITH RUGBY FOR HEROES
4 -6 June 2021
After a tough year, we are delighted to be able to confirm a new date for our war walk to commemorate the 77th anniversary of DDay.
Our patrons Mike Tindall and Nick Knowles will be joining a team of veterans and supporters as we take on this 26-mile challenge across the New Forest. Ambassadors Thinus Delport, Ryan Jones, Kevin Yates, Keith Senior and Julian Lewis Jones will also be lacing up their boots to offer their support in what promises to be a memorable trip for all.
The New Forest is well known for being the vast hunting ground of William the Conqueror, and home to the free roaming ponies, but it was also at the heart of Britain's war efforts in WWI and WWII. Its position on the South Coast, close to the Solent and the military bases on the Salisbury Plain, made it a hive of wartime activity,
The team will be taking in some of this region's military heritage and staying at the Tile Barn Centre in Brockenhurst, the site of a WWI hospital. Their 26-mile two day trek across this unique landscape fittingly end on the eve of the 77th anniversary of DDay at Lepe Beach on the Solent, the the Allied fleet set sail for France.

A huge thank you to everyone for your support; every pound really does make an enormous difference to our work. Reaching our goal of £15,000 will enable us to offer two Rugby for Heroes coaching courses for our military personnel back to back later this year.
