New Glasses and Basic Needs

Donation protected
Hi my name is Tasia. I'm a 26 year old disabled woman who needs help with a few bills including glasses and related exams as well as food.

I bought new glasses just this past February, so I’m very unhappy having to buy another pair so soon, but the arm broke off and I’ve had to keep them on by tying a piece of string into a knot and pushing it through the former arm hole. They don’t stay on while I move at all, and the knot constantly comes undone. The frames I look at cost from $60-$80 and the cost of the lenses is below. I also need to update my prescription. When I first put these pair on I thought they were the wrong prescription but it’s clear that my eyes have gotten worse. I need an eye test, the cost of which is shown below.

[id:Hi Tasia-Soleil ,
Thank you for your interest in our optometric services. If you'd like to make an appointment, please give us a call at. Due to the dynamic nature of both our booking schedule and the patients' availability, it is generally easiest to arrange for a mutually convenient appointment over the phone.

Aside from the cost of my glasses and eye exam, I need to pay $139 in order to be able to go to the dentist, and that couldn’t be more urgent. My front two teeth are infected and cracking, and if I don’t address them soon I will lose them. I feel so insecure about my teeth already I can’t handle any more.

I'm wondering if I have an outstanding balance owed. I'd like to make an appointment for two of my front teeth i think one is starting to get infected and feels very brittle.

You
Good morning Tasia,

Yes, you still have an outstanding balance of $138.39. Let me know what day you would like to come in.

Best,

So that's $389 for sure, plus $60-$80($469)for the frames of my glasses. These are known costs. The other unknown cost is food. Price gouging from our literal oligopolies has made it impossible for any disabled person to afford their basic need of food. I certainly can't. So in addition to these known costs, I've added $130 for food and money for my bus card to actually do everything I've listed here.

None of this is due for a specific date, but it is all time sensitive in that I can't go on like this for much longer. ANYTHING, any amount of money will help me towards these goals, and I would appreciate every penny in ways I cannot express. Being able to eat and see are basic needs and I shouldn't have to start an online petition to have them met, but unless the disability care system changes that's exactly where I'm at.
