New Hearse
Assalaamu Alaikum,
Balham Mosque's current funeral van, purchased in 2001 is not ULEZ compliant and will therefore be subject to a £12.50 daily charge from April 2021. In order to avoid incurring this extra expense and to update the outdated 19 year old van Balham Mosque funeral service requires a new hearse.
Having researched a number of options the decision has been taken to purchase a new Mercedes Benz Vito Van. We will need to get the van modified for the purpose of serving the community as a funeral service hearse. The total cost of all of this is around £35,000.
We know these are difficult times but request that you donate whatever amount you can towards this humble cause. InshaAllah it will be a means of sadaqah jariyah for you and your families. Alhamdulillah the community rallied together 19 years ago when we purchased the current hearse and we know, especially with the world as it is today, that the community will answer our plea this time also.
