New Hike Tents for 1st Twyford Scout Group

1st Twyford's Hike Tents have been through a lot!

They started their life in Uganda under the tropical sun as part of Project Africa nearly ten years ago. We have since taken them on many more adventures. They've been our faithful companions on Summer Camp hikes and Great Breakfast Chases. They've shivered on many a Winter Camp. They've been dragged around Normandy as we cycled from campsite to campsite, plus even more events than we can remember. Unfortunately, the hundreds of nights they've been used for means that they now deserve a well needed retirement.

On Friday 13th October, we'll be having a evening sleep out without tents, using only home built shelters and materials we can find.

Even if you're not attending, we'd really appreciate your support by posting this fund raiser on your social media accounts (both Scouts and parents). Also, if you are donating yourself and qualify, please tick the Gift Aid box, as it results in a substantially increased donation.

We're not just looking to replace our tents with similar models, but to get new ones with features that the Scouts will really appreciate. Strong alloy poles. Pitching as one, so the flysheet actually covers the inner tent to stay dry. Big porches for all the gear or somewhere to hang out in the rain, or the sun.

The idea is to raise money for the tents and get all the Scouts to tell us what they think makes the perfect tent so we get ones they can be really proud of and be a legacy for the Scouts for many years to come.

We think we'll need about £2000, depending on what they choose. But, if we raise even more money, we can buy better ones and get more camping and activity equipment!
