New Hip for Chico
Donation protected
Chico arrived at Pet Save with his hip dangling and emacitated just before Christmas. He was about 20 lbs underweight and was too thin to do the immediate surgery he needed. We could not get a straight story about how it happened. He was in a lot of pain and growling at first. He was taken to Espanola Animal Hospital and assessed by Dr. PJ the orthopedic vet. He determined there was extensive damage to the hip and the only option for Chico was a full hip replacement. This poor guy is only about a year old and the x-rays showed the injury had occured up to 6 weeks prior to being brought to us. Chico was given some heavy medications for pain and Dr. PJ told us to get as much weight on him before the surgery which took place last week. He is resting comfortably with his foster mom Lori Harris and will need at least 3 months for a full recovery. Surgery went well but this is huge single expense for Pet Save. We appreciate it is just after the holidays and most people are tight on funds but we are hoping that many people will come forward to make a small donation of just $10 and together we can pay for his upcoming therapy, rehabilitation and medical expenses. We at Pet Save feel this young pup has been through enough and deserves the much needed treatment. With this surgery he will one day run again like a young dog and get to enjoy his life! Thank you
