A home of their own: Transform a life in Haiti
Watson is a dear friend of mine living in Port-au-Prince Haiti. He served as a guide for me as I conducted research in Haiti in 2012 and has remained a loyal and dependable friend. He has worked tirelessly to help others following the 2010 earthquake. For example, despite his own personal needs (the home he was renting was destroyed), he worked to re-build an orphanage with locals to help those with even greater needs than his. He continues to work with local orphans and others all while striving to raise his beautiful girls.
In Haiti, the 2010 earthquake only exacerbated the massive challenge of paying for schooling, housing, and food. These three needs are very expensive. In an effort effort to afford them, Watson has I purchased a piece of Land to finally build his own family house. This would allow him to have more financial flexibility to support his girls’ education (rather than spending the bulk of his annual income on rent). Most people in Haiti make about $1 a day, and struggle to live off this meager income. I'm hoping that we can come to the aid of someone who has always been there for others.
Watson needs about $6,000 to pay for construction materials, labor, and engineering to help build a family home after exhausting his personal finances to get the land. Can you help? Any amount can contribute to changing Watson's life, and most certainly the future outlook for Watson's beautiful daughters in the next generation!
Thank you for considering, and please share this as that too can help.
With gratitude,
Trent Williams
