New Hospital Bed Motor for Mr. Baumert

See the Omaha World Herald Article Here

The sixth, seventh and eighth-grade students at A Latere Academy in Omaha, Nebraska, learned that their beloved homeroom and math teacher had a need. Their teacher, Mrs. Baumert is not only an incredible advocate for her own children and grandchildren, but also for the students at her school and a full-time caregiver to her husband. Mr. Baumert, paralyzed for 11 years, requires a unique hospital bed to keep his body rotated through the night to prevent open wounds and ulcers. They initially qualified for a bed, which worked well for ten years. They then purchased a new bed, which has never worked the way it was supposed to. Medicare will not cover the bed or replacement motor he needs, so his supplemental insurance will not either.

Currently, Mrs. Baumert wakes up through the night to rotate her husband. If she doesn't do this, they run the risk of open wounds, which would likely require hospitalization.

How can you help? In addition to a campus bake sale, the middle school students at A Latere want to raise money to afford their teacher the correct durable medical equipment. She deserves an excellent night's sleep and her husband shouldn't run the risk of preventable infections. Thanks for your donation of any size!
