Four years ago, we created a space for new converts, people interested in Islam, and second-generation Muslims struggling to find community and brotherhood/sisterhood that they couldn't find in more traditional Islamic Centers and Mosques. Our community now includes converts to Islam from many diverse backgrounds, such as Panamanian, Costa Rican, Mexican, Columbian, Nicaraguan, Chinese, Philipino, Argentinian, European and African-American. These people from such diverse backgrounds consider this their community and spiritual and material support system.

The beauty of our third space is that we are building on top of existing Islamic Centers and Mosques. Because of friendships and bonds we have established within our third space, we have people we know to sit next to in larger Islamic centers and mosques when we attend those programs. People interested in Islam have our community for their first exposure, so they are not overwhelmed and isolated.

Our community has grown tremendously in both quality and quantity in the past four years. We have had people make shahada through our community, and many started attending Islamic programs that were shying away from them in the past due to bad experiences.

The pandemic shifted our priorities. We closed the doors of our tiny Islamic Center due to health risks. Instead, we started raising money to help the neediest in the Muslim communities of the Bay Area, helping keep them afloat due to the economic situations the pandemic initially created.

We are now looking to raise money to establish a new, larger Islamic center for our growing community. Many of you have benefited from our programs, and we hope you can contribute to the continued growth of these programs and the community it is establishing.
