New jaw by 30!

Hey everyone!

As many of you know, Johnny has been in the process of preparing for orthognathic surgery. Johnny has an underbite and temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJ), which has caused him severe jaw pain and locking, headaches and the wearing down of his menisci and cartilage. This surgery will help prevent future arthritis and further wearing down of his front teeth and loss of back molars. An animation of the surgery is below:

Though he has been told that this surgery is necessary for his health, it is unfortunately not covered. With the cost of his braces, the procedure all together will cost over $15,000 all said and done, plus he will need to take several weeks off work.

Thanks to your help last year, we were able to start this process. Johnny was simply overwhelmed with gratitude and emotions last year to see the love and support from so many family members and friends (sorry to expose you lol). So, for his 29th birthday this April 11th in lieu of gifts, I figured we could help give this wonderful and deserving man a new jaw by 30 <3

So far, Johnny has had his braces put on, tightened and retightened several times, and a first surgery to clean up and repair his worn down and jagged menisci. I had never seen him in so much pain, but it was worth it. His jaw no longer pops audibly when he opens his mouth (though it does still click and grind), and it can hinge almost normally.

UPDATE: Johnny just had an appointment with his orthodontist. He believes his teeth are ready for surgery, so we should hear in about a week (right around Johnny's birthday) when the surgery will be scheduled this year!
