New K9 partner

My K9 partner and I have been through quite a lot the last few months. He had an accident during training and as a result, he fell and suffered a severe spinal injury. He has spinal fusion surgery and has regain the ability to walk, but will never be able to work as my K9 partner again. 

My employing agency does not purchase our K9 partners for us, and I am now in a position to purchase a new K9 partner or give up being a K9 handler. With Covid-19 going on, there are hardly any dogs being imported to choose from and I need one that will get along with my retired K9. I have found a few options, but the cost isgoing to exceed $8,000 easily, and I’m not willing to put my family under any financial stress to stay K9. So I’m asking all my friends, family, their friends and family, local businesses, to help me with the purchase of a new K9 partner. The actual K9 I’m looking at is $8,000 for just the dog, plus I’m looking at around $1,500-2000 in travel/shipping costs to go out and see/test the dog to make sure it will be the best choice to be my protector on the streets. I’ve set a goal of $10,000 which should cover all the costs of the new K9. Anything above my goal will be donated to my K9units non-profit organization. Their by-laws make it hard to purchase a dog of my choice, but they will be assisting me in the long term care of my retired K9 as well as other retired K9’s from my agency. 

I rarely if ever ask people for help, but K9has been the best job I could ever ask for and I don’t want to give it up if I don’t have to. Thank you everyone for your consideration to donate for a new dog and shares to make my quest easier to fulfill. My K9 unit and all our other retired dogs will also be eternally thankful for anything above the goal that will continue to fund medical care and support for our K9’s who have given some or all for the job.
