New Library for Gege Primary School

Donation protected

Swaziland is a small country in the southern part of Africa. It is landlocked and surrounded by South Africa and Mozambique on both sides. Swaziland is the smallest country in Africa with the highest percentage per capita of HIV/AIDS.  By bringing books and computers into the community we hope to reduce the stigma of the virus and encourage greater adherence to ARV's (antiretroviral drugs) through increased education.

In the rural community of Gege, Swaziland, the primary school located in the middle of town currently accommodates 500 students but they only have room for 300. They have a library but because of the overcrowded population the room is used as an extra classroom and the students are not allowed to check out the books. I'm working with the community to bring in more books and computers for the students to gain a better understanding of life outside Swaziland. We need more room for books and computers so we are building a seperate room that will function as a library and only a library.  These resources will allow for greater connectivity for the community and target key members of the population including orphans and vunerable children and empowering young girls to complete their education.

We need your help to build this library. The school has access to WiFi and we hope to create a safe place for students to come and expand their knowledge/connection to the world.  Any amount would help and your donation would directly affect the children in this community.
