New Mountain Bike for Dryland Mushing & Sled Dog Races
Donation protected
Hey everyone!
As many of you know, Hannah and I have two Alaskan Huskies that we run both locally in our community and at dryland dogsled races in Wisconsin/Michigan. We've been running dogs at races for the past four years. Over the past year, we've gotten more serious with the sport and are looking to participate in even more events this fall and next spring.
We have slowly been gathering/purchasing all of our own gear over the years, but we're missing one final piece of equipment, which happens to be the most expensive one, a bike for the bikejoring events. In past years, we've always had to borrow bikes on race day (thanks Q and others!), but we don't want to always rely on others, especially if they can't make some of the events we go to. Plus, without a reliable mountain bike, we're not able to train bikejoring at home. We have an older street bike, but that doesn't hold up on anything but pavement.
So now we're looking to add that final piece of equipment to our team. This way we can train more at home on actual trails nearby and be fully equipped to attend any events we want to on our own, without having to borrow from others.
We've found a bike from a local dealer that is a great "entry level" mountain bike that will meet all of our needs. "Entry level" in the mountain bike world is still pretty costly, so we are trying to offset some of that cost. Funds will be used directly for the cost of a new bike.
To those who do throw us some spare change, you are amazing and we can't thank you enough!
This is a photo of the bike we're looking to purchase:
