New shelter - Uganda SPCA - Danica Reno memorial

My daughter, Danica Reno, was very passionate about any and all animals. Everywhere she went throughout the world, she adopted, rescued, and helped abandoned and abused animals.

When she moved to Uganda six months ago, she immediately began working with the local USPCA Animal Shelter, and started fostering a little disabled pup. Additionally, she started working on fundraising for the shelter, as they had lost their lease on their property, and were in the process of purchasing land and building a new shelter. She immediately stepped in, donating some of her own money to work on this process, and starting numerous projects to raise the balance to build the new facility. She spent her non-working weekends at the shelter working.

On June 2nd, Danica was taken from us. She was involved in an accident in Kampala, Uganda and did not survive. It is my wish that as a memorial to Danica, we complete this project in her memory. This is what she would have wanted.

The USPCA is Uganda’s only companion animal shelter and is home to over 200 dogs, cats, puppies and kittens given a second chance and looking for their forever homes. The USPCA is dedicated to community outreach initiatives, including animal welfare education, rabies vaccinations and spay/neuter clinics.
