New Site for Reading Gurdwara

Siri Guru Singh Sabha Reading (registered charity number 266714) has been in its original site for nearly 50 years.

Many of our youngsters have missed out on opportunities to develop their Sikhi knowledge, learn Punjabi and make friends in the community. The number of Adults and Families visiting the Gurdwara Sahib has also significantly reduced due to the severe lack of parking facilities.

We have to urgently address this problem or risk our children losing their identity in the future. Therefore, the Trustees and Management Committee who comprise the younger generation and older more experienced Sangat members have come together behind the single goal of relocating the Siri Guru Singh Sabha Gurdwara Reading to a new site that can cater for the over 400+ families that live in Reading and the surrounding area.

What is our ask?

Help us with a shortfall funding gap of £350,000 so we can secure a new Gurdwara site for the Sikh Sangat of Reading, Wokingham, Winnersh and nearby areas.
The site has been assessed and is suitable for our growing Sangat (see more details about the site below)
The Reading Sangat are all supporting this project and we have raised nearly £1.65m already. We need to reach our target of £2m.

A humble benti to all Sikh Sangat across the UK and globally to help us with our shortfall of funding for £350,000. We do not want to lose the opportunity to truly transform the daily lives of all our Sikhs in Reading.

Why

New Site details

A new 20,000 sq ft office building has been identified with over 80 ready made car parking spaces, a bus stop right outside the front entrance and a train station within 5 mins walk.

We can accommodate:

Bigger Darbar & Langar Hall
Classrooms
Dedicated areas for elderly and young families
Gym
Multi-function areas that can be used for seminars, MMA classes and much more

Our work so far

There has been a tremendous amount of work already completed to ensure planning permission is already approved and we are in the pole position to purchase the site.
