New Tents for Al-Mawasi's Displaced Families

Donation protected
My name is Stephanie and I am here in efforts for raising money to secure temporary housing for the most vulnerable families in Gaza. Near to the sea is the city Al Mawasi, in central Gaza, a few miles outside of the larger city Khan Younis.

In Al-Mawasi there is a displacement camp, Al-Qarara, which is currently home to hundreds of Palestinians and their families, in tents. Tents provided over a year ago by humanitarian organizations which struggle to keep up with the colossal destruction. After a continued year of being exposed to the elements, the camps tents are shabby and worn, completely falling apart, unfit to house animals, let alone entire families. They've been repaired and patched multiple times already, and such a tent brand-new costs about $1K - they are hard to come by.

Regardless, the need within al-Mawasi is great - there are at least 10 families with tents in such condition to warrant complete replacement. The goal of this campaign is to raise enough money to replace the tents of these 10 families. This humanitarian effort is arranged by my friend Mohammad Abu Alwan, for whom I have arranged a campaign in support of his family since July 2024, I have gotten to know he and his family well over the months. I have seen his little children grow from being newborn babies to smiling toddlers. You can see some of our shared history in their campaign story, found through my profile, or directly from this link: https://gofund.me/09e8dcf5

Mohammad and his family lived in Rafah, in Southernmost Gaza, before the conflict began, and lost his home a few months after the ground invasion. Mohammad went to university for Interior Design/Carpentry, and his wife Samar had just begun working in her field of Preschool education - the exact age for her oldest daughter, Ghina, to begin learning her first letters while inside a tent such as the ones we would like to purchase here.

I have seen many examples of Mohammad's kindness and charity, most recently for the same displaced of Al-Mawasi, he has, together with his extended family, helped to raise $10K in food supplies and groceries to disperse among the needy of al-Qarara.

As these goods were being delivered around the camp, the men could not help notice how damaged the tents had become, everywhere with gaps between walls and ceilings, allowing wind and water to come through. More than one tent ceiling had water from the continual rain collecting, seeping onto the floor of the 'home' where these families are meant to sleep.

Please help us to ensure that these families - innocent of any crimes of the conflict between those in power - have at least a secure tent to reside in, free from the sea wind and rain. Any day we hope for a ceasefire, to allow to citizens of Gaza some time to rebuild a little, and regain some semblance of life under occupation. Each tent, as described above, costs around $1,000 USD, and we hope to raise the funds to repair or replace the tents of at least 10 families in Al-Qarara. From our combined efforts we have raised over $10,000 for Mohammad's children and wife, as well as collectively raising another $8,000 for the food initiative for Al-Mawasi.
Please donate, every amount makes an impact and adds up to something that can truly impact the daily lives of regular people in the worst circumstances imaginable. Please share, please keep talking about the displaced in Gaza.
