WBC's Inaugural Equipment Fundraiser-Build Our Future Today!
Tax deductible
Williamsburg Boat Club (WBC) is a non-profit community rowing organization that supports rowing enthusiasts from across the region. Our mission is to provide a high-quality rowing experience, in a positive environment, to members of every skill level, age, and background. We are committed to continually improve the club so we can provide exceptional rowing experiences to our community. A key part of this is acquiring new (to us) equipment that better meets the evolving needs of our rowers and our club's future.
WBC had a fantastically successful year in 2024 – lots of growth and lots of changes. We’d especially like to thank our wonderful WBC community for all your generous support both financially as well as your tireless volunteerism this past year.
Past Club fundraising efforts have focused on our future Rowing Center and to replace our stolen equipment from last Fall. We are now proud to announce our very first fundraiser focused specifically on acquiring new equipment for our rowers!
As many of you know, we are shifting how we row and train. It’s going to be better for our rowers and better for the growth of the club but that means we need some new (at least to us) equipment. This is a compilation of the equipment we’ve already acquired for the coming season!
Already purchased in early 2025:
- 2 Kanghua 4x (Quad Scull) - $17,500
- 1 Double - $8,000
- 1 Filippi 1x - donated
- 2 sets of 4x oars - $3000 each set of 4
- 1 new Blue Ocean Megaphone - $479
Meanwhile, Coach Sharon Kriz, our Director of Rowing, has generated a wish list for the next few years and we are hoping this fundraiser can proactively fulfill the first part of that list and make some equipment upgrades come true!
Here’s a breakdown of what Sharon is planning. There can be a certain amount of shock and awe involved when you realize just how expensive some of this equipment is. But it’s a long-term investment in the future of our club.
Sharon’s Wish List for 2025-2027:
- 2 - 4 2xs (aka doubles) estimated at $10,000 each (used)
- Racing 1xs (aka singles) (as many as possible) estimated at $5000 each (used)
- 4 - 6 SUP Row boards - $1300 each
- 2 sets of 4x oars - $3000 each set of 4
- Sculling riggers for King 4+ (to row as a 4x+) - $2000
- Sculling riggers for Mary Lou 4+ - $2000
- 10 - 20 Ergs - $1000 each
- 3 - 4 Blue Ocean megaphones - $479 each
If you break that out across the next few years, we're hoping to raise between 15-20K this year to help fund our initiatives.
As always, we are deeply grateful to our WBC family for all your continued to support. Truly, we could not do this without you!
