New wheelchair for Joel Spunt

Joel was born with Spina Bifida and has needed the use of a wheelchair for most of his life. He has required multiple surgeries over the years and at the age of 23, was dealt another blow when given a stage 4 testicular cancer diagnosis. He battled his way through chemotherapy only to suffer from lasting problems that make his limited mobility even more challenging.

After using the same wheelchair for over 10 years, Joel desperately needs a newer and technologically advanced chair in order to improve his daily quality of life and reduce the strain and discomfort on his shoulders, allowing him to live as independently as possible. The new custom wheelchair has a lever drive system that will help increase his mobility, most importantly outdoors while giving his body a much needed break from the pain caused by years of using a basic wheelchair.

Unfortunately, custom chairs are very costly and not covered by insurance despite their necessity. Joel has searched for assistance for a new chair but has yet to find the financial support he needs. We are asking for YOUR help in getting him the custom wheelchair that will be life changing.

He has managed to be an active member for his local American Cancer Society - Relay for Life team and supports others with cancer as well as disabilities.
