Power chair for Gill to stay mobile & independent
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Gill. I am raising funds for a new power chair that meets my needs, since I had a traumatic amputation in 2022. My current chair no longer meets my needs and I need a more specialised chair to make my life less painful and more manageable. One that will give me my independence and freedom back and make me less reliant on my 80 year old Mum. Without a new chair I will become housebound, unable to shop, socialise or travel.
The monies raised will be used to fund a new power chair and new compression stump socks which stop swelling of the stump and promote healing. Any monies left over will be donated to Steel Bones an amputee charity based in the UK that have helped me every step of my amputee journey.
#Someone has asked why I cant get an NHS one
My local NHS wheelchair service like many in England don't provide powerchairs for outdoor use only. I have a manual one I struggle to use inside the house but once again they refuse to fund an indoor powerchair that would be the right size for the property I live in. They are happy to see me housebound and reliant on my 80 year old Mum.
#Another asks why so expensive
This is not expensive in the powered wheelchair world and costs can easily be double and treble what I am asking.
