New Year’s Eve Gone Wrong
Donation protected
New Years is typically a time of celebration, it's filled with a lot of spirit and ambiance. Sometimes people will go out to bars, parties, and other social gatherings for this holiday. We often worry about the drunk drivers, but we don't worry about the other dangers that this night could bring.
My close friend Dani (Danielle Cook: 20 years old,) was recently talking about how she’s never had a favorable New Year’s.
December 31st, 2021 was supposed to be different for Dani. She bought a brand new dress and was planning on going out with some of her other close friends that are also local to the Jacksonville area. Dani and her friends, (another girl and two boys,) met up at one of the boys apartments. From then, they were planning on leaving soon. Shortly before they were supposed to leave, two young men busted down the apartment door and fired two gun shots at Dani and the other girl.
One of the bullets shot through Dani’s forearm, and went through her bicep. Luckily the bullet did not hit any arteries or bones. The other girl was unfortunately shot in the leg and had to get her bone replaced with a metal rod. This night was not supposed to end up like this. It was absolutely terrifying and traumatic for these young girls and their friends.
Thankfully Dani and the other girl were rushed to the hospital and treated right away.
Under these medical conditions, Dani will not be able to go to work, or make art (yes she is an amazing artist as well,) for about a month and a half. My friends and I are asking for a little bit of help for our Dani. She has a cat that needs to be fed and other bills she has to worry about; (bills like: car payments & insurance, utilities, and rent.) To be quite honest, I can’t even think of what the medical bills are going to be like.
We would be so very thankful for those who could participate in this, (whether you can donate or not, we just ask you to share.)
Love,
Victoria.
