New York State Pavilion Preservation

Donation protected
We are extending our fundraising effort as our materials and funds are running low. We would like to finish updating the yellow paint to American Cheese Yellow and touch up the red and white well into next season. Thanks all for the continued support!

We began 2014 on a high note...WE SURPASSED GOAL! This fundraising effort has remained open for donations which helps us with future maintenance and touch up. Thank you for your continued support and please spread the word! http://nyspproject.org

We held our first Open Gate event on the 50th anniversary of the opening of the 1964-65 NY World/s Fair in April 2014 and two additional openings in May and October that year which were very successful.

2015 was also a great year for the pavilion. More events, more recognition, money for the towers and the amazing painting of the crown by the Structural Steel Painters Association and Union members. http://nyspproject.com/NYSPcrown.htm

More success and awareness throughout the following years through 2018.

Look for new progress reports as we continue our project and support other efforts through 2019 and beyond. Thank you!

We are a grass roots effort lending support to preserving an iconic structure remaining from the 1964-65 New York Worlds Fair in Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens, New York. We (John P.; Mitch S.; Stephanie B.; Gary M.; Jim B.; Tom B.; Ed G.; et. al.) have spent the past few years gathering donations of materials and paint to restore some dignity to the structure in hoping it raises awareness towards the restoration and reuse. We have completed the outside paint and started the interior in the spring of 2013. Designed by famed architect Phillip Johnson it has fallen into disrepair over the years. It has more recently been seen in movies like Men in Black and Ironman 2, as well as TV on CSI:NY.

The 50th anniversary of the opening of the fair had arrived in April 2014 and the pavilin looked great. We have since hosted several successful open ngate events at the pavilion. However, there is more to do! The money raised will go towards red, white and yellow paint and associated materials. Typical cost per gallon is approximately $35-45 but we hope to seek discounts from generous paint distributors and other private donations. Thank you!

Check out http://nyspproject.org and the media coverage of our events. Please note- No funds from this gofundme was used for any purpose other than purchasing paint and directly related materials for the maintenance and improvement of the structure.

Gofundme no longer supports rewards for donors. They want to keep the donor's private information secure. The reward we all hope for it the preservation of the New York State Pavilion!

If we have funds remaining after purchase of paint and material, the funds will be used to help secure the NYSP as to protect the efforts of its volunteers. Locks, clean-up, fence and gate repairs may be some of the items needed upon completion of the paint project.
Please allow 2-4 weeks for delivery of your gift.

Thank you!
