SHH! SECRET New Zealand Trip for Jared Stoddard
WHAT’S HAPPENING
We are Kylie and Steve Fuller, Jared and Shelly’s daughter and son-in-law, and we need your help with a surprise for the two of them. As you may know, Jared has lived with a brain tumor for upwards of 20 years now and since we don't know what the future holds, we'd like to plan a special surprise for them while he is still in good health.
Jared served a mission in New Zealand (North Island) and has always talked about one day going back to visit where he served but has never been able to do so. We know it’s a long shot, but we’re hoping to have enough friends and family support to be able to send the two of them on a nice getaway to New Zealand for a week to relax, enjoy the sites, and provide a nice memory for Jared and Shelly to treasure. 
Remember, if we can pull this off we’d like to surprise them with this, so please make every effort to keep this secret and prevent Jared and Shelly from finding out this is happening until we’re ready to reveal the entire plan to them. DO NOT FORWARD THIS TO THEM PLEASE.
TRIP DETAILS
We reached out to a local travel agency, Columbus Travel, and we have been working with a knowledgeable travel agent from there to price out a trip for them. We’re targeting early-mid March for travel, and would like to send them to the North Island for about 7 days. The agency is making sure that everything is included for them including flights, transportation around the island, hotels, activities, etc. We’re tentatively planning for one scheduled activity each day (e.g. harbor tour, Maori Cultural Experience, etc.), with plenty of down time for them to explore New Zealand on their own, rent a car and visit the temple, visit old mission sites for Jared, etc. The total estimated price of the trip is $7,167, but that does NOT include food or fun (outside of the one scheduled activity each day). In addition to the price of the trip, we were hoping to cover passport fees (about $400 total) , cash for food costs each day (hoping $200/day covers it), and in a perfect world we’d also like to include some cash to offset Shelly’s time off from work, as I’m sure that will need to be a consideration.
Our target is to raise $10,000 in total to cover everything listed above.
HOW DO I DONATE?
While we understand that Go Fund Me charges a small fee to organize this effort, we still thought this was the best platform to raise money and keep it all in one place, rather than deal with many individual donations through cash, paypal, venmo, etc. That said, if you'd rather donate cash, check, paypal, venmo, etc. please contact us directly and we can provide you with those details.
We’ll need as much help as possible to get them there, but we know that Shelly and Jared have had impacts on so many people’s lives we are hopeful the response will be positive. Whether you can spare to donate $50, $500, or $1,000, we hope you’ll help with whatever you can spare. We do plan on including a list of everyone who donated to this cause to give to Shelly and Jared so they will know you helped (but we may keep the dollar amounts anonymous unless you’d like us to disclose). 
WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU CAN'T RAISE THE ENTIRE GOAL AMOUNT?
Go Fund Me doesn't require that the entire goal be met before releasing funds, so we plan on taking whatever money is raised and gifting it all to Shelly and Jared, even if we come up short of our goal.
