A New Beginning For Patty
Don protégé
In January 2015, I wrote a post on my blog about how I wanted to keep the Christmas spirit alive all year long.
About how I wanted to use the substantial reach of my blog to help out families in need.
And about a week after I wrote that post, I got a message on the blog's Facebook page from a girl I called "Lost."
Her actual name is Patty.
Patty was living in a very uhealthy relationship with her husband and their two young sons.
"...Our eldest son has down syndrome. He’s almost 3 and has the mentality of a 6 month old…so say the docs.
Our next son, IS 6 months old...
...My husband has no license so at 4 am we take him to work and at 6 pm we pick him up. He doesn’t make enough to support us, but I can’t get a job because no daycare wants my son because of his “liability”..."
Her relationship was unhealthy, to put it very mildly.
I wrote another post in response to her message.
After reading that post, the readers of the blog reached out to Patty offering her their help, their support and their love. But not knowing where she lived or any specifics, there wasn't a whole lot they could do.
Less than a month later, Patty took a HUGE step.
She got herself out of the relationship.
We live hundreds of miles away from each other, but Patty and I have communicated every day since I wrote that post,
And I want to help her get on her feet.
So this goal of raising $5,000 for Patty is so that she can pay for daycare for her boys and get a job. And to help her with a security deposit on a place to live. For diapers and formula and food and clothing and whatever else will set her and her boys up for a happy and healthy life.
Now we can all help. From wherever we are.
Please join me in giving Patty and her boys a new beginning.
