Help Blind Newborn Baby Kingsley See
Donation protected
This go fund me page has been created for my cousin, Omata, who is currently living in Nigeria with her husband Ifeanyi and their two other healthy toddlers.
On October 14th Omata gave birth to her long-awaited son, Kingsley, who was born with an obvious visual defect. His eyes were large, blue and cloudy. It was apparent to everyone right away that something was wrong. He was taken immediately to an ophthalmologist who diagnosed him with anterior segment dysgenesis with associated glaucoma. This occurs when the tissue in that particular area just fails to develop/grow, this sometimes can be associated with other congenital syndromes.
Baby Kingsley has started initial treatments with medicated eyedrops, but that will not be enough. In order to give this little guy a shot at restoring his vision he will need surgery and possibly a transplant. Although they have done everything they can for him in a Nigeria, they are unable to do anything more and both baby and mommy will need to travel in order to get further treatment. Moorefield Eye in London, has agreed to see baby Kingsley and perform any and all necessary procedures, but of course this comes at a cost. Omata and her husband Ifeanyi are struggling to come up with the financial means to save their baby’s eyesight. It would be greatly appreciated by her family and my family if anyone can spare whatever they can to help make this travel and surgery possible. Estimated total cost is approximately $25,000.
Given the conditions and economy of Nigeria it will be impossible for Omata and her husband Ifeanyi to afford this surgery. We as a community are Kingsley's only hope.
