Newborn colt medical expenses

As many of you know on Monday, April 1st Lucas and Kelsi recently became horse parents to a colt named, Thad, via their beloved horse, Envy.

Thad’s birth and arrival went well and everything was progressing smoothly until Monday evening when he had not caught on to nursing and medical intervention was needed. Upon consultation and guidance from their vet, it was determined that Thad needed to be transferred to Oregon State University (OSU) in Corvallis for more intensive care and treatment.

The care that Thad has received at OSU has been nothing short of amazing and he has made great progress in the past few days, however, he is not “in the clear”. As he is still having some difficulty in figuring out nursing on his own, which in turn is affecting his ability to gain weight.

If you are reading this you most likely (or maybe not, and that’s okay too) have a personal connection to Kelsi and/or Lucas. If you know Kelsi and Lucas you know that they are a couple of the most giving and selfless people you could have the pleasure of knowing or being a relative or friend of.

They would never ask for a dime from anyone, as that is not their nature. But as you can imagine having an animal receiving care from a specialized research hospital is very costly. Not to mention the associated costs with multiple trips back and forth from Rainier to Corvallis.

So you may be thinking, “how can I help!”

We have came up with a couple ways you can show your love and support for Thad, Envy, Kelsi and Lucas.

1. Pray- please be in prayer for this sweet colt, his mama Envy and also Lucas and Kelsi. It is a very helpless feeling to not be able to care for your own animals at a time you feel they need you the most.

2. Monetary (welcomed but not expected). We created this Go Fund Me due to the overwhelming inquiries we have received about people wanting to help and support.
