Newburyport Community Butterfly Garden
Thank you to the 46 (and counting) folks who have donated perennials, annuals, birdhouses, bird feeders, a
pollinator hotel, original art and more. Thanks also to the Parks Department of the City of Newburyport for
allowing and supporting our work in this beautiful garden on the Clipper City Rail Trail.
Your kind financial support will go towards an Educational Poster to help visitors understand the reasons why
we are promoting milkweed and nectar plants for Monarch Butterflies.
Here is an example of the Educational Poster we would like for the Garden.
Milkweed is the only plant on which Monarch Butterflies will lay their eggs.
Because of the increased use of chemicals such as Glysophate/Roundup and habitat loss by close cutting of
roadsides and farmlands, the Monarch Butterfly population has substantially decreased.
Here is the Poster we are planning to use:
We would like to post this full color Poster on a metal stand that explains this and their life-cycle at the
Newburyport Community Butterfly Garden (on the Clipper City Rail Trail next to Oak Hill Cemetery and near the eastern spur of Parker Street).
