Newhaven and Seaford Sailability Hansa Fundraiser

Hi, I'm Jazz and I am raising the funds to buy a hansa 303 access dinghy for my local sailability group, Newhaven and Seaford Sailability (NSS). This is a boat that can be used for people with any disability to experience the joy and freedom of sailing. The volunteer led group is currently oversubscribed and is limited by the number of usable boats they have access to. As a small group access to funding is limited and so I am raising the money to buy the boat on behalf of NSS. This is particularly important to me as a disabled full time wheelchair user who has first hand experience of the benefits of sailing.

To raise funds I am going to be walking the South Downs Way from Winchester to Eastbourne covering the 160km route in my manual mountain trike. Along the way I will be supported by my assistance dog phoebe as well as volunteers from NSS (as I will need all the help I can get to cope with all the massive hills).

This is going to be a huge challenge for me as I am living with a terminal condition with rapidly deteriorating health. Walking the south downs way is something I've always wanted to do and now living on a shorter time limit makes me more determined to accomplish the goal. I want to demonstrate that with the right adaptions and support in place anything is possible.

I aim to complete this by my 26th birthday on the 8th July this year. I will also for my birthday be asking for donations instead of presents to hopefully reach this goal. As well as raising money I'm hoping to raise awareness of some of the struggles those with disabilities face, in particular access to the countryside. Sailing has been one of the main ways I've got back my freedom of enjoying the outdoors and I want to share this with everyone.
