Newsela's campaign for the Okra Project

To honor Pride, NewseLGBTQIA will be donating the remainder of our annual operating funds — $1000 — to The Okra Project, an organization that seeks to address the global crisis faced by Black Trans people by bringing home cooked, healthy, and culturally-specific meals and resources to Black Trans People wherever they can be reached.

This Pride month, many of us have been mourning the loss of Black life, investing in Black futures, honoring the Black and POC trans folks who brought us Pride, and examining our complacency in systems of racism and oppression.

We would like to challenge you to commemorate Pride by matching our fundraising efforts.
